  • Assam is home to 31 million people, a third of whom are poor. The incidence of poverty in Assam remains higher than the national average, with poverty levels being very high in some parts of the state. Growth, which is driven mainly by services, is among the lowest in the country. A large majority of Assam’s workforce is still on the farm. Health and education have witnessed mixed progress. Progress for Assam’s women and girls has been slow. Maternal mortality is the highest in the country, the child sex ratio is declining, and female labor force participation is lower than in most other states. RCFI started its operation in Assam during 2012 as the part of northeast development programme. The organization has completed 68 projects in various villages on agriculture, drinking water, education, and special care programmes. Below is the list of the activities carried out in the state through the RCF’s interventions.


  • Programme Highlights


    1. 50 drinking water schemes installed in different parts of the state. 550 households are linked to the project.
    2. All of them were given with lifting devices.
    3. RCFI has constructed one school in the remote village of Assam, which is running very smoothly.
    4. RCFI adopted 74 poor orphans and providing his all costs including health, education, and living. The organization is also helping the at-risk orphans in developing their career plan and live skills.
    5. Different types of relief work and feed the poor campaigns were conducted in the state at various times. There are 20 cultural centers constructed in Assam so far. 7000 families are getting benefits from the same.
    6. All the 20 cultural centers are with proper hygiene measures and WASH facility.
    7. 5100 families are benefited from the cultural center initiatives. These centers can be used for training, education, and social activities.



  • Manipur


  • Manipur is one of the resource-rich states of the North-East Region of India. Despite being well-endowed with natural resources, Manipur, like the rest of the region, continues to lag in development. Poverty levels are high and, with few industries or businesses, most people depend on low-value agriculture. Power shortage has been one of the major constraints to economic development in the state. Until recently, one-third of Manipur’s 2.8 million people did not have access to electricity. Those that did often received it for an average of 6-8 hours a day. RCFI started working in Manipur during 2016. The organization has completed several projects in five districts of the state.RCFI mainly worked in cultural rehabilitation in the state.


  • Programme Highlights


    RCFI completed five community-level cultural centers during these years. They all are in the middle of the villages and the people around them can use the same for education, training, and other socio-economic activity. 1750 families are getting befit from this social investment. RCFI adopted one poor orphan and providing his all costs including health, education, and living.
